Caravan began in Tehran in 1997 as an independent publisher of fiction, poetry and ideas. Its books were banned, its literary magazine was closed, and its publishing licence was eventually revoked.
Now its story continues in Britain as Caravanserai. Our latest books, published in English and Persian, cross borders, draw forgotten stories into the present and give a home to literature that refuses to be silenced.

Meet the author: Arash Hejazi
Arash Hejazi is a British-Iranian novelist, memoirist and publisher whose fiction draws on Persian mythology to explore the choices people make under the pressure of love, grief and power. He is the author of the Persian-language novels Kay Khusro, Princess of the Land of Eternity and Grief of the Moon. His memoir, The Gaze of the Gazelle, was published in English, German, Swedish and Italian. He was forced into exile after giving eyewitness testimony about the killing of Neda Agha-Soltan during Iran’s 2009 protests.
